We decided at Sheringham Cottages some four years ago that guests searching for accommodation that was truly suitable for their needs deserved to be able to come on holiday safe in the knowledge that the property they were coming to was right for them.
We were fed up with reading cottage descriptions here in Sheringham, from owners that described their cottages as wheelchair friendly when clearly they weren't.
We searched for a scheme that would help us to develop our most suitable properties to accommodate those who were less mobile than others.
The only scheme we could find that would help us and grade us was The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) it is the only scheme that rates the accessibility of visitor accommodation throughout England.
The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) is a national scheme which helps you find accommodation to suit your needs, independently assessed by trained assessors against demanding criteria. Assessed properties will have facilities such as handrails, ramps, level-access showers, hearing loops and colour contrast. Using the NAS could help make the difference between a good holiday and a perfect one. A list of our NAS logos and explanations are shown below.
Holding an independently awarded NAS certification shows that we are committed to access for all, gives potential guests a label they can trust and provides clear expectations for customers when booking.
1) NAS is a straight forward, independently assessed accessibility rating system, which disabled people find really useful
2) People with impairments can be sure that the facilities they book are the facilities they find
